Sport & Exercise Psychology Services

Having successfully gained qualifications within the field of mental health and psychiatry, the natural progression was to become skilled within sport and exercise psychology where one field relates to and supplements the other. Having witnessed the enormous benefits of mental health to exercise as therapy, I wished to continue this within the realm of sports and exercise psychology.

Intervention can take various forms and is used to assist both beginner and professional athletes alike. Whilst sports psychology plays a pivotal role in helping people achieve their sporting goals and ambitions, it covers multiple areas that are flexibly unique to each individual (such as personality type for example). As a branch of social sciences, Sport and Exercise psychology is a powerful intervention measure that promotes performance enhancement and personal development.

This domain intrinsically involves examining behaviour, mental processes and wellbeing with the aim of improvement. The work is fundamentally centred around people and is collaborative in nature.

The environmental contexts vary from office, boardroom, field settings/team base, academies, competition venues, clinical rehabilitation and recreational exercise settings. Competitive sport at any level has very fine margins between success and failure.

It is here that Sports Psychology is a conducive, effective strategy and can literally become a “game changer.” It is a relatively new, challenging and yet exciting field of study that has gained increased prominence in recent times. The key components I can assist clients (individuals/teams/groups) with are:
